It’s Rihanna’s birthday, and what better way to celebrate the Barbadian beauty than by highlighting the many times she’s wowed us with her trendsetting hair. From mullets to blonde tresses, braids, Bantu knots, and more, Rih Rih’s ever-changing mane keeps us in a chokehold, and every time she steps on the scene with a new look, we gag first…and then try our best to recreate it.

When Rihanna stepped on the scene in 2005, we were wowed by her stunning looks and funky style. At the beginning of her career, the budding singer usually wore her hair in a long, auburn-colored style that flowed every time she moved her body. It wasn’t until the entertainer’s third album, Good Girl Gone Bad, that her inner style icon began to shine. The “Umbrella” crooner reappeared on the music scene with a banging record and a sassy bob that had the girls going crazy. Immediately after that hair change and new album, Bad Gal Rih Rih was born.
After years of being considered the “girl next door” in the industry, Rihanna slowly morphed into a style mogul who created her own lane and stayed in it no matter who or what. She is singlehandedly responsible for making the mullet hairdo popular again and can work a pixie cut like nobody’s business. The popular Pices eventually climbed to the top of everyone’s style and beauty list and even snagged partnership deals with some of the biggest names in the fashion and beauty industry.
Rihanna’s keen sense of style and beauty led her to create her own empire, Fenty Beauty, which became an instant hit in the makeup world. She later expanded her business repertoire with Savage Fenty, and Fenty Hair, in which she shocked fans by debuting her natural curls, achieved by using her products.
Rihanna is a hair mogul, and on the day of her 37th year on Earth, we celebrate the icon by honoring 10 times she shut the hair game down. Jump into it below!
