The Barbie doll celebrating beloved Detroit-raised singer, model, and actress Aaliyah debuted Thursday Jan. 16th in honor of what would have been her 46th birthday. Let’s just say, supplies didn’t last long.

The limited edition doll, part of Mattel’s Music Series, was modeled after one of Aaliyah’s iconic looks from her One in a Million music video— a faux leather outfit, black shades, and her signature side-part silk press.

The barbie was supposed to be on sale exclusively for Barbie Club 59 members January 15 at 9 pm PT through January 16 at 8:59 pm PT (retailing for $55), and at participating Target locations, but it sold out everywhere within 30 minutes (according to Detroit News).

Several are already listed on eBay for roughly $100-$200.

“Aaliyah’s smooth vocals and innovative sound helped shape ’90s R&B, and her influence on music and fashion continues to be felt today. Our tribute to ‘Babygirl’s’ life and sound will take any collection to the top of the charts,” Mattel wrote on their web listing.

Aaliyah quickly rose to fame at just 15, when her debut single ‘Back & Forth’ topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts, peaking at No. 5. She earned Grammy nominations for hits like “Are You That Somebody” and “Try Again.”

The industry was heartbroken when she died in a Bahamas plane crash in 2001. She was just 22 years old.
