Real Housewives of Potomac (RHOP) star Ashley Darby is praying for her co-star Karen Huger after a judge slammed the 61-year-old socialite with a two-year prison sentence, with one year suspended. The ruling came down following Huger’s 2024 March DUI arrest (and January 2025 entry into rehab).

Darby, 36, appeared on The Tamron Hall Show on Feb. 27 to talk about the impact of the sentencing. The reality star admitted she “cried like a baby” when news of Huger’s prison sentence made headlines. Darby and Huger have been on RHOP since the show’s inception in 2016.

“I really do encourage everyone to keep Karen in your prayers,” the entrepreneur and newly divorced personality told Hall when asked about her reaction to the news. “I really care about her. And I learned this on the train coming here today and I cried like a baby, I did.”

Darby and Huger have faced their share of conflicts over the years, with their latest confrontation airing during the Season 9 premiere of RHOP on Oct. 6, 2024. While discussing Huger’s March 2024 DUI arrest, Darby expressed that she didn’t believe Huger would be a “repeat offender” of a DUI incident.

“We know that Karen has had a DUI before, so I never thought that Karen would be a repeat offender with something like this,” Ashley shared in the episode, according to PEOPLE. “This is the same song and dance that I’ve seen from Karen.”

Huger later told Andy Cohen on an episode of Watch What Happens Live that it was “very painful” to hear and witness her co-star comment on the case publicly.

“I mean, you know I care for these women and all I wanted them to do was be patient and wait because it’s an ongoing case. But you know Ashley saying what she said — and let’s be clear, Ashley needs to be concerned about her relationship with alcohol the way she sucks down the Coronas. I’m just saying,” she clapped back at the time.

Pointing out comments made by other castmates about the incident, Huger questioned whether her co-stars were wishing “harm” upon her.

“It’s very painful to listen to that,” the Maryland socialite added, while chatting with Cohen. “And their accusations — are you wishing me harm? Honestly I’m hoping to win when it all comes out, but I have to respect the law. When I can speak about it, I plan to be open and transparent as I always have been.”

As previously reported, Huger will have 30 days to appeal the judge’s decision on her prison sentence and 90 days to ask the judge to reconsider his order.
