BET+ has officially renewed “Churchy,” the popular workplace comedy created and starring Kevin “KevOnStage” Fredericks, for a second season. Here’s what we know about the renewal.

Premiering on February 15, 2024, “Churchy” quickly became the top scripted comedy series on BET+, thanks to its unique and hilarious spin on church life and small-town challenges.

In the comedy series, Fredericks stars as Corey Carr Jr., a hopeful yet naïve pastor who, after being passed over to lead his father’s mega-church, heads to Lubbock, Texas, to create his own ministry. Corey soon learns that small-town church dynamics are far different from what he imagined, resulting in a series of comedic and heartfelt lessons on leadership, community, and faith. Fans loved the relatable storyline that showcases the quirks and charm of small-town church life, infused with humor and insight.

Season one’s success featured a talented cast, including Anthony Elfoniza, Lexi Allen, and Shani Shockley, among others. Season two will introduce new series regulars Quin Walters and Tahir Moore, alongside guest stars Nic Few, Tony Baker, and Tabitha Brown. Fredericks and Melissa Fredericks return as executive producers for KevOnStage Studios, alongside LeBron James, Maverick Carter, and Jamal Henderson of SpringHill.

Fredericks expressed his excitement, thanking BET, SpringHill, and fans: “The cast and I can’t wait to bring you even more comedy and a bigger, better show.”

Jason Harvey, EVP and Head of BET+, added that Churchy’s mix of “humor and heart” resonated strongly with audiences, making the renewal an easy decision.

With production set to begin soon, viewers can look forward to a new season that promises even more laughs and insights. Until then, catch up on the first season now streaming on BET+. Episodes from season one will begin airing on BET’s cable channel on Nov. 5 at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET. Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming season.
