Big Apple Brilliance: Tyler Perry, Taraji P. Henson, Teyana Taylor, Sherri Shepherd & More Attend Special New York Screening Of ‘Straw’

We’re only two days away from the premiere of the new thriller Straw. Last night (June 4th), Netflix celebrated the release of its highly anticipated upcoming film, written, directed, and produced by Tyler Perry. The star-studded special screening took place at The Paris Theater in New York, where cast members and more commemorated the occasion. Continue reading to check out photos from the special night. 

Straw stars Taraji P. Henson as a single mother (Janiyah) whose world unravels in chaos as her day goes from bad to worse to catastrophic as she struggles to care for her ill daughter. Pushed to the brink by a world that seems indifferent to her existence, she’s forced to confront impossible choices in a society that offers her no safety net.

In addition to Henson, the film also stars Sherri Shepherd (Think LIke A Man, Top Five, Ride Along 2),  Teyana Taylor (A Thousand and One, White Men Can’t Jump, The Book of Clarence), Sinbad (A Different World, Houseguest, Good Burger), Rockmond Dunbar (Prison Break, Songs of Anarchy, The Mentalist), Ashley Versher (Beauty in Black), Mike Merrill (Finding Happy) and Glynn Turman (A Different World, The Wire, House of Lies).

As previously stated, the film was directed and written by Tyler Perry. He also served as a producer alongside Tony L. Strickland and Angi Bones.
