The 2025 Met Gala is only a few months away, and VOGUE Magazine has unveiled the official dress code for the super-fashionable event.

Over the past few years, we have seen fashion ranging from the classic to the avant-garde and everything in between. However, this year’s dress code goes back to the basics. Titled “Tailored for You,” the dress code looks to have a focus on menswear and suiting “that’s sure to bring out the sartorial creativity of this year’s attendees.”

This year’s dress code coincides with the Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

More on the theme from VOGUE:

Drawing inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, the exhibition is organized into 12 sections, each representing a characteristic that defines dandy style: Ownership, Presence, Distinction, Disguise, Freedom, Champion, Respectability, Jook (defined in Zora Neale Hurston’s “Characteristics of Negro Expression”—an important reference for the exhibiton—as a space for dancing, drinking, and other leisure activities), Heritage, Beauty, Cool, and Cosmopolitanism.

As previously reported, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams will join VOGUE Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour as co-chairs, with LeBron James as an honorary chair. In addition, the gala will also have a host committee with members including André 3000, Dapper Dan, Doechii, Usher, Janelle Monáe, Tyla, and Spike & Tonya Lewis Lee among others.

The Met Gala is scheduled to take place on May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
