Although we’re currently (and proudly!) celebrating Women’s History Month at the moment, that’s not to say we don’t appreciate all the great men out there who do their part in making this world a greater place for you and me.

D.L. Hughley can definitely be considered as one of those men, especially with the work he does daily in order to spread positivity and always make sure the masses are informed by way of The D.L. Hughley Show. It all stems from tools he learned during his upbringing in Los Angeles that’ve also been passed down to his own offspring and the grandkids as well.

The latest report from “The GED Section” is simply a tribute to those men during his childhood who taught him what it meant to be a man, which sadly isn’t always reflected in the image of Black men that’s often seen today. He used an example of a time where he lost grocery money while coming back from a trip to Cali-based supermarket Vons, only to return and find the money in a clip by the cash register that read, “I saw a kid lose this money.” You’d be hard-pressed for that to happen in 2025, but sometimes it’s just nice to reminisce on the good times when communities operated on the saying “it takes a village.”

Watch D.L. Hughley’s full tribute above on “The GED Section” to the men during his upbringing who shaped his reality of manhood.
