Kash Doll is setting the record straight on the growing “valley of the dolls” in today’s female rap game. During a Feb. 6 interview on Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe, the Detroit rapper and certified hair slayer shared her thoughts on the influx of femcees using “doll” in their rap names.
While Kash—whose real name is Arkeisha Knight—made it clear she has no personal beef with other rappers, she once pushed for a change.
“So I just wanted everybody to change their name,” Kash Doll told Shannon. “That was my name.”
Her feelings on the matter were at an all-time high back in 2018 when she dropped a diss track addressing the situation. However, she has since moved past it, calling the controversy a misunderstanding. For Kash, the issue wasn’t just about a name but about protecting her brand.
“So just picture all this time I’ve been doing this, right? And then just a group of girls come out, and now it’s just all these dolls,” Kash said, sitting pretty in a fitted brown bodycon dress with black strappy heels.
She continued, pointing out how the “doll” trend compares to other rap monikers or names.

“It’s not a lot of ‘Minajs.’ The only thing you hear a lot in female rap is ‘doll.’ I didn’t come out ‘Kash Minaj.’ I didn’t come out ‘Cardi, C.’ I didn’t come out ‘Old Miami.’ I didn’t come out ‘Kash the Stallion’ because that’s their name, right?”
Kash also expressed frustration over constantly being compared to others who adopted the same title.
“I did all this. And every time I come on the Internet, it’s a list of ‘Who’s the best doll?’ Who’s the cutest doll?”
Shannon then asked the Kash Kommandments rapper if she wanted to be the only doll in the game.
“I should have, I am,“ she replied.
This Club Shay Shay interview is not the first time Kash Doll spoke out about her name. While promoting her latest album, The Last Doll, she talked about her feelings toward her name and her personal growth and life journey. ‘
The BMF star is ready for a change again, but not with other rappers this time. Instead she’s looking at herself.
She told Billboard this past fall, “It’s just growth. It’s where I’m at in life. Do you know what I’m saying? So, I’m just tired of the doll. I got two kids. I don’t want to be called a doll no more. I’m just over that.
