Lil Duval and Erica Duchess sat down with Posted on the Corner hosts Incognito and DJ Misses to talk about their new independent comedy-horror film Camp Duvall: Ain’t Nobody Dying Today, the power of Black ownership in entertainment, and the unfiltered stories only a film set can produce. From hit records born out of rejection to the business behind putting an independent project in AMC Theaters, this conversation covers what it really means to build something on your own terms and have a good time doing it.

Lil Duval and Erica Duchess brought everything to this conversation: their new independent film, the business of Black ownership, on-set stories you couldn’t script, and a life philosophy built on never compromising who you are. Hosts Incognito and DJ Misses covered it all, from the “black power dollar” driving Camp Duvall: Ain’t Nobody Dying Today into AMC Theaters to the wild moments that only happen when the most authentic voices in the room stop holding back.

The Duval Philosophy

If you want to understand Lil Duval, start with his outlook on life. “Everything funny,” he said. “If you ain’t laughing at life, you missing the whole point.”

That mindset has carried him from the 106 & Park and Rap City era to today. He has built a career on being himself. “I ain’t never chased the white money,” Duval explained. “I always was able to be myself.”

He also shared the story behind one of his hits. He bought a woman a drink in the club, and she walked off. His response? “Oh, yeah, watch this.” Then he made a hit record. Turning an L into a W is the most hip-hop thing you can do.

Camp Duvall and the Black Power Dollar

The duo came to talk about their independent comedy-horror film, Camp Duvall: Ain’t Nobody Dying Today, now showing in AMC Theaters. Tickets are available at campduball.com, and a streaming release is set for the end of the month.

Incognito asked why releasing the film independently in theaters mattered. Duval kept it simple: the black power dollar. Owning the project and putting it on screens with community support sends a message about what our money can build.

And the camp’s number one rule? “I ain’t responsible for nothing to happen over there. It’s all on you, period.”

DJ Misses asked what the pair learned about each other while filming. Erica pointed to the set’s wild, high-energy vibe, where anything could happen. Her favorite memory proved it: a scene with a young woman twerking in a wheelchair. You have to see the movie for the full context.

The group also cracked up over “Snoop Daddy,” who they jokingly named the toughest person to share a scene with. Duval and Erica kept the jokes flowing, with plenty of playful banter between them.

Catch Camp Duvall: Ain’t Nobody Dying Today in theaters now, and keep an ear out for Duval’s track “Little Booties Matter,” which he plans to add to the film’s soundtrack. As Duval reminds us, life is a comedy show. Act accordingly.
