30 years ago, the rap world was introduced to a Queens-bred emcee by the name of Nas that would go on to become one of the most respected lyricists to touch a mic. Just a decade prior, fellow Queens rap icon LL Cool J was laying down the foundation for hip-hop that soon became a blueprint for success followed by the Illmatic hitmaker and many other successors.

Alas though, after three decades of waiting and millions of records sold between the two, we’re finally being treated to a meeting of the masters in the form of a debut collaboration titled “Praise Him” coming from LL Cool J’s new album, The FORCE.

As the album title stands for the powerful acronym Frequencies Of Real Creative Energy, it goes without saying that LL is pulling out all the stops for his first release in just over a decade and 14th project overall. In this special segment of “My First Time,” we spoke with the man of the hour about linking with Nas on their long-awaited collab and how it all came together with help from Q-Tip handling things on the production end. Talk about a world’s fair in Queens!

Watch LL Cool J in our latest “My First Time” below, and be sure to check out his new album, The FORCE, where you’ll find “Praise Him” featuring Nas:
