Pharrell Williams has had a major hand in the musical soundtrack of our lives for the last three decades. Now, he is adding to his lengthy discography by releasing his ‘Piece by Piece’ soundtrack to accompany his animated biopic. The soundtrack is available to fans on October 10th, just before the release of the biopic in theatres on October 11th.
The ‘Piece by Piece’ soundtrack has 21 songs that some of you will probably recognize as Pharrell’s greatest works and 5 new original songs. The soundtrack features some of the biggest names in the industry like Jay-Z, Snoop Dog, Gwen Stefani, Charlie Wilson, Justin Timberlake, and even a feature from his high school alma matter’s band the Princess Anne High School ‘Fabulous Marching Cavaliers’. In the title track, Pharrell breaks down in his lyrics the why behind this project and how it all ties into the title.
I decided a long time ago
I would write my own chronicle
Sit around? That ain’t me
Nor is following a lead
Lemme build what I see
You know it starts with a piece
Give it time, let it breathe
Instead of suffocating crazy dreams
