Quavo Shares Vision for “Chrome Life” and Honoring Takeoff’s Legacy

Quavo pulled up to Posted on the Corner, ready to talk about the next chapter of his career. His new album, Chrome Life, is on the way, and he made it clear this is more than a project. It’s an era of innovation, complete with Pharrell’s visionary touch as executive producer.

The Chrome Era

“This is the Chrome era,” Quavo told her. “Just taking it to the next level. Making this music global. Hits on hits. Making it fun again.” That mission runs deeper thanks to a familiar collaborator. Pharrell executive produced the entire album, capping off a partnership that stretches back more than a decade.

“He challenged me crazy,” Quavo said of working with Pharrell again. “The beats is always left because he can hear my voice doing so much different stuff.” He described a sound that lives in two worlds at once, melodies and singing layered over that trap street talk. “It’s the best of both worlds on one track. A beat that can cross over or stay in the hood.”

The studio stories matched the ambition. Quavo recalled catching a vibe in the middle of the Pacific, then finishing sessions inside the Louis Vuitton headquarters. When DJ Misses asked how he keeps evolving without competing against his own catalog, his answer came quick: “We the greatest ever did it. We from Atlanta, baby. That’s what we do.”

He shouted out artists he’s feeling from the town, including YK and Brisky, and shared straight advice for the next generation. “Just remember a hook,” he said. “You got to have a hook. Beyond the music, Quavo is building. His streetwear brand, Chrome Life 530, lets fans wear the same pieces he rocks. He’s also eyeing acting, Craig in Friday, to be exact.

A Legacy of Impact: The Rocket Foundation and Community Advocacy

The interview’s most powerful moment came when DJ Misses asked about the Rocket Foundation and Quavo Cares. Launched with Takeoff’s mother in honor of his late nephew and groupmate, the foundation fights gun violence through grants, passed bills, and real community work. “It happened to everyone,” Quavo said. “Every time we do the foundation, it reminds us of the tragedy. But at the same time, we know we’re pushing for something greater.”

Before wrapping up, he teased dream collaborations finally coming true, records with Justin Timberlake and, for the first time ever, T.I. “I’m making all my dream collabs come true right now.”
