The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is one of the largest scouting organizations and one of the largest youth organizations in the United States. Founded in American 114 years ago in February 8, 1910,  the organization offers life-guidance and mentorship to instill core values into kids and young adults. BSA is a United States organization, but frequently travels overseas to have their scouts experience cultures in different countries such as Europe, Japan and South Korea.

BSA currently has over 1 million youth, including 176,000 female participants. The Boy Scouts of America have been a permanent ‘coming of age; fixture in American culture, leaving boys (as well as girls) with lifetime experiences, life lessons, and even friends.

The stated mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to “prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.”

What is the Scout Law

According to scouting.org, A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

What is the Scout Oath?

“On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”

Since its inception in 1910, more than 130 million young men and women have participated in Scouting America’s youth programs. Of those 130 million, a handful of those youth went on to become some of the biggest public figures in America, Our team at RNB Philly has curated a list of the celebrities who were boy scouts before the fame!
