Stacia Mac is more than your typical momager, she is walking in her purpose through her Mac Effect Nonprofit organization and EmpowerHer initiative. As the mother of rapper Polo G, she is no stranger to fame but uses her public platform to raise awareness around important issues that directly affect our community.

“My inspiration to start The Mac Effect Nonprofit stemmed from a deep desire to empower our community and be a resource for change,” the philanthropic beauty told us in an interview. ‘The Mac Effect is unique because it addresses multiple layers of systemic challenges in our community, from educational disparities to socioeconomic inequalities. We aim to be a bridge that helps mend the wounds caused by these issues and provides tangible support where it’s needed most.

Providing resources and support is “crucial” to Mac because Black women may be resilient but “even the strongest among us need a community that uplifts and supports us,” she explained. “EmpowerHer offers that support through a holistic approach, from reuniting mothers with their children through bail bond projects to offering entrepreneurship workshops, financial assistance, and mental health care. EmpowerHer is an invaluable resource for Black women.”

Stacia Mac EmpowerHer Tennis Classic

This weekend, dozens of Black women assembled for her EmpowerHer Tennis Classic event in Chicago on August 25th for “a unique concept that combines business resources and networking in a relaxed, fun setting,” Mac said. “I chose tennis because, while I’ve attended many networking events, they often felt stiff and formal. I wanted something more personable and engaging. Partnering with my friends Ronneshia Foots and Dr. Princess Lomax, both business owners and philanthropists, I knew this event would be amazing. Tennis is also a nod to the incredible Black women like Venus and Serena Williams and, more recently, Coco Gauff, who have dominated the sport. Plus, the tennis theme allows us to help entrepreneurs while looking great doing it!”

The tenniscore style is trending. As expected, guest showed up and showed out in their best athleisure wear. Mac was styled by D. Rushing. She combined high and low pieces for a standout look at the sporty event. From a white tennis one-piece from FashionNova, a black Alo visor, to Chanel sneakers and a Chanel tennis racket, Mac looked ready to slay on and off the court.

Mac made headlines for a legal issue involving her daughter and many saw it as conflicting with her woman-positive brand. Mac said it was a “challenging time.” Being a mother is difficult, and when dealing with an adult child suffering from mental health issues, it can fracture even the strongest families. No one wants to defend themselves or their home from someone they love. Even after that person receives the help they need, the family is often left scarred by the experience. That’s why I created the Mac Care program, which provides mental health support to both individuals and their families.”

She continued, “My brand isn’t defined by my family life; it’s defined by the positive impact I’ve made in business and in the lives of others. I’ve empowered and uplifted many, and my mission remains unchanged. As for misconceptions, I don’t focus on them. I know who I am, and I stand firm in my truth and self-awareness. The world’s opinions can change in an instant, so I focus on what aligns with who I am and my path.”
