If the Powerverse had fashion Avengers, Monet Tejada, Raq, and Tasha St. Patrick would be Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain America. The fabulous TV characters represent fierce, take no sh*t matriarchs who dress their a** off. The women of the Powerverse have captivated us for over a decade with their witty lines, style, and ability to thrive in male-dominated spaces. If there’s one thing 50 Cent loves, it’s a strong female lead.

Raq, Kanan, uncle Marv, Juke Box, and Joey Bada$$ return to our TV screens, we’re reminded of the leading ladies over at Starz. Raq, played by Patina Miller, delivers throat-cutting monologues while serving 90s fashion in big gold hoop earrings, waist belts, and crop jackets.

Whether it’s the OG, Tasha St. Patrick, who started it all back in 2014, or the multiple spin-offs that have further propelled the story — the female characters never miss a moment to stunt as Queenpins.

Powerverse Style

To give the ladies their sartorial props, we’ve compiled a list of the women in the Powerverse who have dynamic street style and even bigger presence.

Monet Tejada

Mary J. Blige is a style icon and inspiration to fashion girls for decades. When it was announced that she would be joining the cast of Power Book II: Ghost, fans were excited to see her act — but also because they knew that she would pack that fashion heat. Whether it’s her dripped-in labels, butter-soft leathers, fabulous fur, expensive jewels, and thigh-high boots, Mary became Monet and vice versa.

Raquel “Raq” Thomas

When it comes to cutthroat female drug kingpins, arguably, no one does it better than Raq. Set in the 1990s, Power Book III: Raising Kanan follows Raq as she leads her family’s drug business.  As the mother of the corner-kid turned killer Kanan and big sister to her brothers, her henchmen, she dominates our screens with scorching one-liners and street style defined by the golden era. Raq has mastered incorporating masculine elements into her looks to let the men in her orbit know that she is not to be played with.

Diana Tejada

As the daughter of Monet, Diana Tejada inherited her mother’s tough exterior and her killer sense of style. Played by LaToya Tonodeo, Diana’s fashion profile is a direct result of her double life as a student by day and member of her mother’s drug outfit by night. Her choices naturally have a younger aesthetic, but the prominence of street style influences and the love of designer labels are just as strong as Monet’s.

Tasha St. Patrick

The first female character to come through dripping was the wife of modern drug kingpin James “Ghost” St. Patrick in Power. Tasha, portrayed by Naturi Naughton, was the definition of ride or die. And she did it style. Tasha enjoyed showing her wealth with luxury looks that included unlimited labels just so you knew she could pop a few bands whenever she liked. Like a great hustler’s wife, she could switch it up at any moment. From club to court ready, she was the machine behind the Ghost.

LaKeisha Grant

Keisha Grant (played by LaLa Anthony) doesn’t have the endless cash and resources like her best friend Tasha, but she makes whatever she’s wearing look good. The two friends, whose friendship ended in one of the most shocking moments of the Power series, have similar taste and style and like to be seen. The more attention-grabbing, the better, and in Keisha’s case, the perfect way to land her own trap king…which she does.
