“The Office” is getting an Aussie twist with a brand-new update on the iconic comedy series. The beloved franchise is officially heading Down Under with a woman boss taking on the iconic Michael Scott role once played by Steve Carell in the U.S. version. Read more about the upcoming series inside.
Prime Video just announced that “The Office: Australia” will debut all eight episodes on October 18, and they’ve dropped first-look images featuring Felicity Ward (Time Bandits, Wakefield, The Inbetweeners 2) in the lead role. Breaking new ground, Ward will be playing Hannah Howard, the franchise’s first-ever female boss, who is the managing director of Flinley Craddick packaging company.
Hannah Howard’s world is turned upside down when she gets the news from Head Office that her branch is being shut down, with everyone being forced to work from home. But Hannah isn’t going down without a fight. In true Office style, she concocts outlandish schemes and makes impossible promises to keep her “work family” together. And, of course, the quirky staff of Flinley Craddick indulges her madness while trying to meet the impossible targets she sets.
The series features a talented ensemble cast, including Edith Poor, Steen Raskopoulos, Shari Sebbens, Josh Thomson, Jonny Brugh, Susan Ling Young, Raj Labade, Lucy Schmidt, Zoe Terakes, Pallavi Sharda, and Claude Jabbour. Expect guest appearances from Susie Youssef, Justin Rosniak, Carlo Ritchie, Rick Donald, and Chris Bunton as well.
Developed by Julie De Fina and Jackie van Beek, The Office: Australia is the 13th global iteration of the beloved workplace mockumentary. Produced by BBC Studios Australia & New Zealand, Bunya Entertainment, and Amazon MGM Studios, this latest version joins a prestigious lineup that started with the original UK series starring Ricky Gervais as David Brent, and of course, the wildly popular US version led by Steve Carell’s Michael Scott.
With its unique Aussie flavor, The Office: Australia promises to bring a fresh, hilarious spin to a global favorite. Get ready to laugh and cringe with a whole new office coming Oct. 18 on Prime Video.
