There are no words to properly describe the devastation felt worldwide as a result of the West Coast wildfires that’ve been burning continuously since the year began just over two weeks ago. However, rap queen Lil Kim did her best to put together a few that she believed would at the very least show support all the way from her native borough of Brooklyn.
Things started out fine, as you’ll see in her tweet below posted on Tuesday (January 14):
Unfortunately for the “Ladies Night” emcee, it was her use of the word ‘monsoon’ that sent social media into an ill-timed comedic uproar. For the English majors out there, a monsoon is in reference to severe shifts in the wind pattern that can result in extreme rain storms or severely dry winters depending on the season. In short, many felt like the Queen Bee was inadvertently wishing the lesser of two evils on the people of California.
Of course, that led Kim to clap back a few days later with her own definition of what a monsoon means:
..and in case the haters needed proof, she went ahead and got Google’s A.I. Overview tool to help make her point clear:

At the core of it all, we can completely understand where Lil Kim was coming from; water simply beats fire when it comes to physics. At the same time, even a simple Google image search of the word “monsoon” will generate results that don’t look like anything you’d want to wish on even your worst enemy. It’s safe to say we can all agree that it was maybe just a wrong choice of words, even if her hip-hop ego isn’t too quick to admit it.
With dozens of lives already lost, stronger winds in the coming week and the new threat of local looters, we truly wish the best for Los Angeles and everyone in California suffering as a result of this natural disaster.
