As we’re seeing with the Olympic Games, Paris hits different. That’s why AMC and Usher are teaming up for a concert film based on his residency in the City of Lights.

The 45-year-old star will headline the onscreen version of his 2023 residency at Le Seine Musicale, where he performed for almost two weeks. Usher: Rendezvous in Paris directed by Anthony Mandler will open Sept. 12. But it’s a limited edition release as the concert film will close on Sept. 15.

This comes right in the midst of a world tour that starts in Usher’s hometown of Atlanta on Aug. 14. He’ll be on the Past Present Future tour in the U.S. and Canada through Nov. 8, then back on the road in March for a series of European dates through May. He’ll return to Paris’ Accor Arena for four nights starting April 15.

“Paris was a special experience for me as an entertainer and for my fans,” Usher said in a statement. “I hope those who weren’t able to make it in person get to experience how special it was. As for those of you who were, I hope you experience the show and see what it takes to get there through a different lens.”

The concert was filmed during Paris Fashion Week. Pharell Williams, Cher, Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union and Cher attended Usher’s show as well and appear in the movie version. AMC Theaters is distributing the film which will play in 2000 theatres – half of them in the U.S. – through Sept. 15. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, Aug. 6.

AMC is hoping that Usher will bring in similar numbers as their partnerships with Beyoncé and Taylor Swift did. Their AMC Theatres Distribution, along with Trafalgar Releasing, also distributed Swift’s The Eras Tour concert film and Renaissance: A Beyoncé Film, both of which came out last year. This year’s slate of big-budget films, aside from Twisters has performed under expectations leaving theater owners looking for creative ways to bring in big audiences.

“For 30 years Usher has captivated and entertained audiences through his music and concerts,”  Adam Aron, AMC Theatres Chairman and CEO, said. “Just a few months ago, he drew rave reviews for his stunning performance in front of 129 million people during the Super Bowl Half Time Show. Bringing his unparalleled concert experience to movie theaters for his fans around the world is a perfect fit for AMC Theatres Distribution.”
